HIERARCHIES CAN BE A DESTRUCTIVE FORCE TO THE HUMAN PSYCHE
I was struck by the story of the Baboon troupe that became more gentle and nicer after the alpha males were removed (killed by accidentally eating tainted meat.) It seems that most of the excess stress was caused in the society by the unfocused alpha males who would bully the others (brawn over brain.)
